Kirk Irvin Iverson, 63, born in Fargo, ND on July 3, passed away unexpectedly in his home in Gold River, CA on November 30, 2022. Kirk was born to Keith and Ione Iverson in Fargo, ND in 1959. The family moved west and settled in Pleasanton, CA in 1967. Kirk attended Wells Middle School and was the first graduating class from Foothill High School in 1977. During his time at Foothill High School, he made lifelong friends, who affectionately called him Ivan for the rest of his life. He attended Chico State University from 1977 – 1982 and like any true Chico State student, enjoyed his time at Upper Bidwell Park and floating down the Sacramento River. Kirk also spent many summers at Lake Shasta water skiing with friends and family.

He married Bonnie Larsen in 1983 and they had two children, Brittany (1986) and Blake (1988). Although he and Bonnie divorced, he always found time for his kids, and they enjoyed various adventures from camping to the beach, to trips to Disneyland and Mexico.

Kirk loved to work construction and in 1997 he moved to Guadalajara, Mexico to help build a large production plant. He continued to live there until the early 2000’s. During his time there he taught himself Spanish and immersed himself in the culture. Once he returned stateside, he lived briefly in Truckee and Kauai before settling in Gold River to help his parents. He still enjoyed working in construction until he passed, helping neighbors, members of his parent’s church and his children on remodel projects. In recent years, he became a full-time caregiver for his ailing mother until her passing in September.

Kirk loved to spend time with his friends, kids and enjoyed daily pictures of his grandkids. He loved to BBQ and enjoy a cold Coors Light. His smile could light up a room and his laugh was infectious. He enjoyed reading and playing cards. He was an avid fan of the Oakland Raiders, the Warriors, the Oakland A’s and the Sacramento Kings.

Kirk is survived by his father, Keith Iverson, his sister, Kim Iverson, his daughter, Brittany (Matt) Hassebrock and son, Blake (Liz) Iverson. As well as his four grandsons, Connor & Carson Hassebrock, and Austen & Noah Iverson.

Kirk was preceded in death by his mother, Ione Iverson.

Kirk will be greatly missed by his family, but never forgotten. He was an amazing man who brought a smile to everyone he met. A celebration of life is scheduled for Sunday, March 26 at 2:30pm at The Cellar Door in Downtown Pleasanton.
