Maury Green
Jan. 5, 1943-Aug. 22, 2023
Pleasanton, California
Maury Green passed away two days after suffering from an AVM bleed in his brain. Maury grew up in Mexico, Missouri. He lettered in basketball and was valedictorian of his class at St. Brendan High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Rolla School of Mines (now Missouri University of Science and Technology) in ceramic engineering securing a job at A. P. Green in Mexico, MO following graduation. After earning his master’s degree in ceramic engineering at Rolla, he headed to California. He worked over 40 years for Kaiser Aluminum and Refractories and National Refractories in Milpitas then Pleasanton as a research engineer. During those years he also earned a MBA at Santa Clara University in California. He called himself a “car guy” owning many vintages and makers of cars for auto crossing and car shows. Attendance at the Good Guys car shows was a must as well as, in recent years, Friday luncheons at Sunshine Saloon in Pleasanton with fellow car guys. He loved reading and was very vocal on the country’s political state. He loved watching Giants baseball, 49ers football and those Warriors would frustrate him to no end. He is survived by his three children, Erica, Matthew and John, two grandchildren, Penny and Finn, sister Sara Rosenthal of Mexico, Missouri, and his wife, Jan, of over 40 years.
