Polly Maready
March 1, 1941-Nov. 10, 2025
Pleasanton, California

Pauline Marie Maready March 1, 1941 – November 10, 2025

Polly passed away peacefully at her home in Pleasanton after an illness of four years. She is survived by Jack, her husband of sixty-two years. She also leaves behind a son, Jeffrey of San Francisco; a son, Brian (Wynde), of Colorado Springs; and a daughter, Melissa (Tim) of Wilmington, NC. She is also survived by her five beloved grandchildren, Rylie, Vance, and Ellia of Colorado Springs and Caroline and Eliza of Wilmington, NC. She also has one brother, Ed (Louann) of Sandersville, Georgia, and was preceded in death by her twin sister, Kathy O’Brien of Pleasanton, who passed away earlier this year.

Polly was born in the hamlet of Footdale, Pennsylvania to Margaret and Louis Rudziensky. Polly received many accolades for her academic achievements in school and, upon graduating, took a job at GEICO Insurance headquarters in Chevy Chase, Maryland. In 1960, she met her husband-to-be, Jack, who was serving in the Marine Corps at Quantico, Virginia. They were married in April of 1963 in Marlboro, Maryland.

In 1973, Polly and her family moved from the East Coast to the town of Pleasanton. They chose the area because of its friendly reputation and excellent school system. During the fifty-two years that followed, Polly became a vibrant, highly respected, and popular member of the community. In 1980, Sally Rayhill, the principal at Harvest Park Middle School, recruited Polly to be her secretary. When Pleasanton Middle School was built in 1990, Sally asked Polly to join her and help open the new school. At both schools, Polly made life-long friendships and truly loved the people she worked alongside. During Polly’s tenure, she received awards for her teamwork, professionalism, and dedication.

Polly joined the Pleasanton Assistance League in 1990 as a charter member. Her friends remember her as a dedicated member who contributed countless hours to the many fine causes of this organization.

In 2002, Polly retired so that she and Jack could enjoy memorable cruises and travel to places such as Hawaii, New England, Ireland, Spain, and France – and of course to Colorado and North Carolina to see the grandkids. Although Polly loved to travel and had family spread out across the country, leaving Pleasanton and the close friends she had made over fifty-two years was never an option.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Pleasanton Senior Center on Saturday, February 7, at 3:30. Her family invites the many friends and loved ones who Polly treasured to help celebrate the sweet memories we have of our kind, loving, and compassionate wife, mother, and friend.
