Robert Jackson Barr Jr.
Nov. 12, 1941-May 1, 2023
San Ramon, California

Robert Jackson Barr, Jr., 81, of San Ramon, CA, passed away on May 1st after a difficult battle with lung cancer.

Robert was born on November 12th, 1941 to Robert and Evelyn Barr in Tucson, AZ. A few years after high school, Robert joined the Navy, where he proudly served from 1961 to 1967, on the USS Midway. After the Navy, Robert enjoyed a full life, with multiple careers, a big extended family, and multiple hobbies.

Trained as an electrician in the Navy, Robert returned to Northern CA, where he began his career at Pacific Bell as Facility Manager, retiring in 1987. After this, he became owner and manager of the Golden Torch RV Park in Arnold, CA. After many cold, snow-packed winters, Robert decided to return to the East Bay in 1996, where he worked as Facility Manager at Watergate Towers in Emeryville, CA, retiring after more than 15 years of service.

Robert met Ofelia in 1988 and spent 24 years together traveling around the world, caring for their garden full of fruit trees and orchids. Robert enjoyed collecting coins, firearms, pig souvenirs, holiday decorations and tools. Robert’s pride and joy was his black and cherry red restored 1955 Buick Special. He traveled cross-country to visit friends and family and would always say that his favorite part of driving his Buick is stopping to get gas and getting to meet so many interesting people.

Robert is predeceased by his first wife Bonnie, his three children Bobbie, Chris, and Casey and his third wife Ofelia. He is survived by his brothers Ted, Larry and Frank; second wife Elizabeth; stepchildren Cheryl, Susan, Christine, Diana and Claudia; adopted daughter Linda; grandchildren Venessa, Sheila, Robert, and Aaron; great grandchildren Hayden, August, Cole, Chloe, Avery and Owen and the Wandvik clan.
