Rosanne Celine Holmes
Nov. 20, 1933-March 5, 2024
Pleasanton, CA

Rose Holmes, age 90, passed away at home on March 5, 2024. She was born Rosanne Celine Morrissey on November 20, 1933, in Dublin, Ireland, one of five children born to Patrick and Katherine Morrissey.

Rose met the love of her life Maurice Holmes in Ireland. They married in 1956 and immigrated to Boston, MA later that year before making their way to California in 1962. They adopted three children, Garrett, Candy, and Scott. She worked in Accounts Payable at Hexcel for over 25 years.

In retirement, she volunteered countless hours at St. Augustine’s Church. She was a parishioner for over 50 years and attended mass daily.

Rose was a kind soul that made a lasting impact on everyone she met. She loved to laugh, shop, travel, take cruises with her girlfriends, sing and dance to Irish tunes, and drink tea. Above all, she cherished the moments she spent with her family, leaving a legacy of love that will be deeply missed. The title of Nana was her favorite.

She is survived by her sons Garrett (Angela) of Pleasanton, CA and Scott (Christy) of Reno, NV; brother Pat (Ide) of Dublin, Ireland; her 16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews in the United States, Ireland, England, and Australia.

Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband Maurice, daughter Candy, brother Seamus, and sisters Peggy and Mamie.

A memorial mass has been scheduled for Thursday, March 21 at 10am at Saint Augustine’s Catholic Church in Pleasanton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice or Open Heart Kitchen who provided support to Rose and her family.
