Thomas McCoy Johnson Resident of Pleasanton (August 3, 1938 – May 17, 2016) Long­time Pleasanton resident Thomas McCoy Johnson, 77, passed away (Cancer)  peacefully with his family by his side in his Pleasanton home on May 17, 2016.  Tom is  survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Sue Johnson; his 3 children, Kevin  (Leslie)  Johnson from Pleasanton, Keith Johnson from Lake Tahoe, and Cherie (Greg) Blades  from Tracy.  He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Britni (Mark) Miller, Jordan  (Lexi) Johnson, Kylie (Brett) Johnson (soon to be Bower), Kendall Blades, and Brock  Blades.  He is also survived by two great­grandchilden, Peyton Miller and Aubrey Miller.   Raised in Millbrae California, Tom is the son of John McCoy and Virginia Johnson.  His  only sibling, Carol (Brad) Hallihan, resides in Millbrae.  Tom, along with his wife, were  members of the Class of 1956 from Capuchino High School.   Many life­long friendships  were established while at Cap.  Tom moved his family to Pleasanton in 1968 and has  remained at his Bonita Avenue home for 48 years.   An avid skier, both water and snow, Tom was passionate about creating recreation  opportunities for his family and friends.  He developed the infamous “Island” on the  Delta where he taught hundreds of friends and friends of his children to ski.  Tom also  provided family and friends with opportunities to sail on the Bay on his sailboat,  experience time on his family property on Orcas Island, WA, celebrate many cruises, and  join him at his vacation home in Lake Tahoe.  Tom also joined his wife for the many  volunteer recreation adventures (cruises, Yosemite, etc.) that they provided for  friends/clients. A man of great patience and care for others, Tom Johnson enjoyed life, provided a  wonderful example for his family, and will remain in the hearts of all who love him.  A memorial service will be held to honor Thomas McCoy Johnson on Saturday, June 4,  2016 at 1:00 PM at Graham­Hitch Mortuary, 4167 1st Street, Pleasanton, CA  94566.
