Albert Ronald Thiessen (90) of Livermore, California passed away on December 27, 2022, after a long battle with dementia.

Albert, fondly known as Ron, was born to Albert and Dorothy Thiessen on February 21, 1932, in San Francisco, California. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950 and later studied Physics at UC Berkeley and CSU Hayward. Ron served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a Physicist for 35 years at Lawrence Livermore Lab. Ron is survived by his wife of 69 years, Patricia, and their children: Tom Thiessen of Chandler, Arizona; Rosanne and her husband, Richard Pasierb of Fort Myers, Florida; Larry Thiessen of Magalia, California; Annette and her husband Ronald Fleener of Pleasanton, California; and Dennis Thiessen and his wife Sandra of Manteca, California. Ron is also survived by the couple’s 11 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sister Barbara Liss, of San Ramon, California; and survived by his brother John Thiessen, of Camino, California.

Ron was an accomplished pianist who enjoyed playing for his neighbors, family, and friends; later for the residents of Sunol Creek Memory Care. He loved playing basketball and lob ball while working at the Lab. He enjoyed hiking, running, and bike riding with his friends, and participated in many Bay-to-Breakers marathons. Ron thoroughly enjoyed getaways with his wife to their family home in Lake Tahoe. He loved traveling to places such as Pajaro Dunes, Cabo San Lucas and taking various Cruises. Ron was known as a “master margarita maker”. He enjoyed cooking, baking, and making Mickey Mouse pancakes for his grandchildren.
