Pleasanton, California

Betty Kay Mooney, a 55 year resident of Pleasanton, California, has passed away at the age of 89.

Born April 10th, 1937, in Ohio to William and Agnes Crawford. She was an only child and was popular in school, where she met Andrew Mooney. In 1957 they eloped and were married.

Andrew was in the United States Navy and would go on to serve many tours abroad, giving Betty the chance to show her dedication to the family as a mother and homemaker when in 1957 she became a mother to Deborah. Two years later, Jeffrey would come along.

The family moved every two years for Andrew’s military service, which required resolve and strength, raising a family and spotless home, that she was proud to take on, while also being able to live in many places in the country. Hawaii was her favorite.

In 1970 the family moved to Pleasanton, California where they would stay.

Betty was a lover of great music, and played the piano beautifully, was a most dedicated gardener and loved baking with her grandkids. She was also an artist whose paintings hang in her children’s and grandchildren’s homes, she was gifted with the brush.

She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, cherished grandmother, great grandmother, a neighbor, always pleasant, sweet and caring with an attention to detail in all aspects of her life especially her family and her love and kindness that touched the lives around her.

Her devotion to her family and the memories she created will remain forever in their hearts.

Remembered most lovingly by her children Debbie Johnsen and her husband Howard and Jeffrey Mooney and his wife Tammy, her grandchildren and their spouses, Kara and Wayne Klotchman, Chad and Rachel Mooney, Melanie and Cary Torvinen, Brooke Mooney and her great grandchildren, Owen, Colson, Brock and Seth.

A celebration of life will be held on November 14, 2026, at the home of Jeffrey and Tammy Mooney from 1-4pm. Please contact Jeffrey or Tammy at 925-998-1397
