Lasting Memories

Jim Lee Bridges
Dec. 9, 1936-Nov. 12, 2025
Pleasanton, California

Jim Lee Bridges passed away peacefully with his son and daughter by his side from complications of pneumonia at Stanford Hospital in Pleasanton, after 88 wonderful years on this earth.

Jim was born in Livermore, CA, the oldest of 6 siblings. He grew up in and around Richmond, CA and has been a Pleasanton resident for the past 54 years. He graduated from El Cerrito High School, where he ran track and was chosen as a pole vaulter for his height and slim build. At 17 years old, he began his career as a stock boy for Sears Roebuck and rose up to Manager for various departments such as Catalog, Furniture, Home Improvement and Appliances for over 10 Bay Area stores and retired after 42 years. He had a multitude of hobbies and was well known for his artistic capabilities such as drawing/painting and woodworking/craftsmanship – making furniture, wine boxes, birdhouses, planters, rebuilding his fireplace, building outdoor sheds and decks and putting in tile and hardwood floors himself. He was an avid golfer, water and snow skier. He and his wife Renee were Oakland A’s Season Ticket Holders for many years sitting behind home plate in Section 216. He loved the Raiders and watching Sunday football. Jim was an avid wine connoisseur and even made his own wine in his garage for a few years. He planted a garden every year, cultivating fresh tomatoes and zucchini that he loved to share with family, friends and neighbors. Jim was a loyal, dependable friend and had many close friendships that spanned over 30 years. In his later years, he treasured his weekly coffee dates and dinners with Dee & Denis and wine outings/lunch with Ralph & Donna. He enjoyed traveling with Renee to their annual trip to Mendocino, where they first honeymooned, while also enjoying trips to Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska, the East Coast, Italy, and France. Not a fan of flying, Jim enjoyed driving to places like Half Moon Bay/Yosemite with his daughter, wine tasting trips to Paso Robles with family and going to “his club,” the Italian American Club, while visiting his son in Las Vegas. But he was most known for being a loving, unconditionally supportive, PROTECTIVE devoted husband and father – there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his wife, son and daughter. He would drive you to the moon and back if you needed a lift. And if you drove yourself, you better call him when you get there so he knows you got there safely.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Renee, and is survived by his son Scott Bridges (Sherry) of Las Vegas NV and his daughter Lisa Bridges of Pleasanton; his last remaining sibling, sister Carol Green of Fairfield, CA; and is affectionately known as “Uncle Jim” to over 35 nieces and nephews. The family plans to hold a Celebration of Life for both Jim and Renee in the upcoming year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. To our loving Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend, you were right when you always said you “lived a good life.” We were the lucky ones who got to share it with you. We will always remember you, and may you now rest in peace with your lovely Renee, in God’s love.
