Lasting Memories
Joyce Catherine Mohatt
Feb. 3, 1937-April 4, 2026
Auburn, California
Joyce Catherine Mohatt passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, at the age of 89. Born and raised in La Grange, California, Joyce Ingalls carried with her the warmth, resilience, and strong sense of family that would define her entire life. She later made her home in Pleasanton, where she and her husband, Everett James “Skip” Mohatt, built a life together centered around family, friendship, and community. During those years, Joyce worked at Amador Valley High School alongside Skip and became known for her kindness, steady presence, and caring nature. In 1999, she moved to Auburn, where she continued to enjoy being surrounded by family and dear friends. Joyce had a special gift for making people feel welcome. Whether through a family gathering, a conversation at the kitchen table, or simply her quiet support, she made people feel cared for and loved. Her greatest joy came from her family, and she took immense pride in watching it grow through the generations. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Everett James “Skip” Mohatt, and her son-in-law, Dennis Hart. Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her children: Kim Usry; Steve Mohatt (Yvonne); Leslee Hart; Mary Reyna (George); Kent Mohatt; and Kaycie Burtchett (Brian). She was a proud grandmother to 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Judi Ingalls, and her brother, George Ingalls (Marcia), who remain in La Grange, California, along with many extended family members and lifelong friends. Joyce’s love, strength, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
