Lasting Memories

Linda Lee Wood
Jan. 31, 1955-Oct. 4, 2019
Pleasanton, California

“Peace is not something you wish for; it’s something you make, something you do, something you are, and something you give away.” —John Lennon

Linda Lee Wood was a beloved presence during her time on Earth, touching innumerable lives with her abundantly caring nature, endless generosity, and beautiful, loving spirit.

Growing up in Loomis, California, Linda enjoyed riding horses, raising sheep with 4H, and singing along to the inspiring music of the 60s. She married her best friend in life, Eric Knowles Wood, in 1983, and in 1989 they welcomed the birth of their son, David Anthony Wood. This trio of Woods found their home in Pleasanton in 1990, where they created a wonderful life together.

Linda’s intuitive intelligence and radiant kindness had a particularly full expression in the company of children. She was ceaselessly dedicated to the flourishing of her own son’s creativity, and after receiving her Bachelor of Science from Golden Gate University in 1999, Linda began reaching many more children’s lives through a twenty-year career with the Pleasanton Unified School District. Starting with administrative office work at Vintage Hills Elementary while her son was a student there, Linda later moved into the role of Special Needs Aide and Behavior Technician, where she could lend her calm, peaceful way of being to help children of all abilities. After earning a certification in Early Childhood Development, Linda rounded out her career as a Preschool Teacher at Harvest Park Preschool.

Music remained a profound source of joy and inspiration for Linda throughout life. Other favorite occasions of Linda’s were family gatherings to enjoy nourishing food together and experiencing the profound beauty of nature, such as in recurring family trips to Yosemite National Park. Linda also loved reading a variety of books of a uniquely imaginative or spiritual nature. From her understanding of spirituality came a great faith in the soul’s loving existence, as well as our unending connection, beyond this life.

Linda’s spirit now weaves among the ongoing lives of her loved ones: her husband and soulmate of forty years, Eric; son David, grandson Linden River, and daughter-in-law Ara, residing in Portland, Oregon; parents David and Winifred Tognetti, in Loomis, California; sister Cheryl Maffei, in Lincoln, California; and so many others who have shared a genuine connection with Linda, big or small.
