Lasting Memories

Marjorie Slayman
Nov. 23, 1923-Nov. 14, 2017
Pleasanton, CA

Marjorie L. Slayman, 93, of Pleasanton, CA passed away in her sleep late in the evening on Tues, Nov 14, 2017. Margie was an amazing combination of grace and fire. She could gain a friend in an instant with her engagement, generosity, and sincere interest in others. At the same time, she was a fierce competitor in life and at the card table. Born in Erie, PA, Margie Lawson was a free spirit who fell in love with an airman named Frank. They moved to CA in 1946 and soon settled in Pomona, CA before retiring to Grover Beach. They remained married for 64 years until Frank’s passing in 2008. Margie and Frank had two children, Robert (deceased) and Becky. Margie is survived by Becky and her husband Rick, as well as her grandchildren, Tracy, Graig, and Ryan and their spouses Dermot, Krissy, and Mary. She has 3 great-grandchildren, Zoe, Conner, and Gavin. We take comfort that “Birdie” and “Slink” are together again. In lieu of flowers or memorial, please consider donating your time or money to your local hospice organization.

What a sweet tribute to a beautiful woman and to one of the more wonderful grandmas I have ever known. I did not know until reading this that she shared a birthday with my brother Lane. My thoughts and prayers are with your sweet family as you deal with this loss, especially around the holidays, but I know your Nana is looking down on you now, enjoying the legacy she left and ready to look over your shoulder as you pull out the cards this holiday season. Merry Christmas to you, condolences and love.
