Nathan Douglas Quimby, a resident of Livermore for over ten years, passed away tragically in an automobile accident on January 21, 2023 in Livermore.

Nathan was born on February 7, 1983, in Hayward, California, the much loved firstborn son of Claudia L. Regalia, originally of San Mateo, and Douglas P. Quimby originally of Minnesota. A smiley and happy baby from the start, Nathan was the first grandchild and first great grandchild in his family.

Nathan grew up in Hayward. His brother and lifelong best friend, Kenny, was born two years later. Sadly Nathan’s father Doug passed away while Nathan was still a small child. Times were hard, and life was challenging for Nathan’s little family. Despite these difficulties, Nathan always had a positive outlook. He did his best to help his mom and to protect and encourage his younger brother. Nathan adored his mother and remained close to her his entire life.

Don L. Bayhi entered Nathan’s life at age 10. Don soon became Nathan’s father, providing for him, teaching him, and guiding him into adulthood. Don and Claudia created a loving home for their family, and at age 14, Nathan’s sister, Madison was born. Nathan watched over his little sister, showering her with attention. He was protective and proud of her.

Those who knew Nathan know what a genuine person he was. He loved everyone, cared about how their day was going, and he always had a smile on his face. When people speak of Nathan, it’s impossible for them not to mention his laugh and how happy he always seemed to be. Nathan loved fishing, biking, road trips, and getting his hands dirty whether it was at work or through one of his many hobbies. What he loved most, though, were his family and friends. Nathan was helpful and generous. He may not have had a lot, but whatever he had, he was willing to share. In recent years Nathan gave his mom a car. He was planning to acquire another car for his parents at the time he passed. Nathan always showed up for family celebrations, and he was always willing to help a friend.

Nathan leaves behind his parents, Claudia and Don Bayhi of Isleton; his brother, Ken Quimby of San Ramon; his sister, Maddy Bayhi of Walnut Grove; his brother, Heath Bayhi of Arkansas; his grandfather, Robert Shiers of O’Brien; his uncle and aunt, Mike and Kathy Regalia of El Dorado Hills; his cousins, Tara Gallagher of Rocklin; Jenny Fegan of Sacramento; Michael Regalia of El Dorado Hills; his extended family and many friends.

Nathan was preceded in death by his father, Doug Quimby; his grandmother, Charlene A. Shiers; his grandfather, Roy R. (Dick) Regalia; and his great grandparents, Charles and Ethel Cotal.
