Lasting Memories
Orland Silva
March 31, 1941-May 11, 2012
Pleasanton, California
Orland Michael Silva, long-time resident of Pleasanton, passed away on May 11, 2012 at the age of 71. He was in his home with his wife and children at his side. Orland was born in Albany and raised in Rodeo, California. Upon graduating from John Swett High School, he went to work for PG&E and retired 33 years later. He then went on to work for the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory for 10 years. His love was for Bible Study Fellowship, where he could study and teach about his Lord, Jesus Christ. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Paula; his children and their spouses: Pam & Josh Shinnick, Kathy & Andy Eelsing, Tim & Dawn Silva, Jennifer & Danny Sweeney and Mary & Angelo Scavone; as well as 15 grandchildren: Tyler, Jacob, Abby, Jason, Ryan, Brennan, Amy, Hannah, Faith, Tessie, Tommy, Travis, Mady, Mitchell and Leah. He enjoyed his family, the Forty Niners, Granada High Football and playing his saxophone. Many will remember him as ?Papa?. His warm smile and loving spirit will be missed.
I am so grateful to God for the gift of Orland! His confidence in God's love and his unconditional way of sharing his faith is a huge part of my walk with Christ. He is and was a great example! My sincere and heart-felt condolences go out to each and every one of the family members! Thank you for sharing Papa with me!
Although we lived in different states our fond memories never wavered. We were fellow musicians, friends and in each others' weddings. We both have large families. The entire Tacconi Family sends its prayers for the loss of a beautiful man.
To the Silva Family - I am sorry for your loss. Orland's infectious smile put everyone at ease all the time. I have fond memories of CCD classes at the Silva house. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Many hugs to you- Julie

What a precious, loveable, sweet and wonderful man Orland was. We will never forget his beautiful face and spirit. We send love and prayers to Paula and all of their family. Hope to see you all soon, Love, Bonnie and Fred
Papa is the patriarch of one of the most wonderful families we know. Anyone who met him, his wife, children, their spouses, & grandchildren has a worthy example of what family and love of God is all about. He led his family in love for both; his presence among all of us will truly be missed. Aloha Oe'; until we meet again.
Orland was a devoted husband and father. He & Paula raised their children with love and faith. We see this in their daughter, Mary, who is our wonderful daughter-in-law. Thank you, Orland, "see you later".
